Painting Story: This piece was born out of a deeply personal moment of worship and surrender. While painting it, I found myself immersed in God's presence—singing on repeat, “I was made for the center of Your love.” The words weren’t just lyrics, they became a washing-over, a letting go, and a letting God in.
At the time, I was navigating a major life transition—carrying anxiety, holding onto the past, and realizing just how tightly I clung to what I couldn’t control. But as the brush moved, something began to break open. The act of creating became a holy space—where tears met paint and worship turned into transformation.
The woman in the painting covers her eyes—not in fear, but in surrender. It's a posture I often find myself in: closing my eyes not to escape, but to see from a higher place. Worship shifts my focus. It pulls my gaze off of worry, off of self, and reorients it back to the One who restores.
The halo represents the mark of sainthood—the identity we receive in Christ. The butterflies speak of transformation, a journey through the cocoon to something beautiful and free. And the flowers rising from ashes point to resurrection—God's ability to bring beauty from brokenness.
This painting is a declaration: You are seen. You are loved. You are being transformed.
